NAESP Statement on the House Appropriations Subcommittee Approval of Its FY25 Labor-Health-Education Appropriations Bill

In a statement, NAESP asks House members to reconsider this ill-advised spending plan and restore cuts made to federal K-12 education programs.

NAESP issued the following statement after the House Appropriations Subcommittee approved a FY25 funding bill that affects Titles I, II, and III of the Every Student Succeeds Act:

“We are disappointed that the House Appropriations Subcommittee approved a FY25 funding bill that slashes Title I by 25 percent and completely eliminates the Title II program that provides professional development to teachers and school leaders and the Title III program that supports English language acquisition,” said NAESP Executive Director L. Earl Franks, Ed.D., CAE. “This bill represents a major retreat for federal investments in education at a moment when student, educator, and school needs are greater than ever. We hope House members will reconsider this ill-advised spending plan and restore all of the cuts made to federal K-12 education programs.”
